This was a busy month indeed.. despite the normal workloads, there are many events were organized in this month(1 director retirement party, 1 internal service lines seminar and the 33rd Tax Seminar held in Mandarin Oriental), which means we, IT dept, have extra works to do.. swt.. anyway, those extra works are quite fun sometimes, like taking photo and select background music for service lines seminar, and some of them are challenging like prepare slide from scratch in half a day for a director retirement party..
Company annual tax seminar was held in this month also.. this is one of the biggest event in company.. there is a lot preparations for this tax seminar and there is a little time for it.. this is because the Budget 2008 was announced on Friday, then the tax seminar was held on next Tuesday, which means only have 3 days to prepare those slides and notes.. although we are not in charge of the content but we have to involve in editing the slides for presentation viewing.. besides that, we have to in charge of nametag design and printing..
Monday afternoon (1 day before the seminar), I have to carry IT equipment went to the hotel standby and do testing.. and there are many colleagues were there to packing those notes and booklet, however I didn’t help them much but I went to check-in and change clothes..hehe.. the room in Mandarin Oriental was nice especially the washroom, it was big and luxury.. however, I didn’t sleep well there because the room is for 2 persons actually but we have 4 persons that night and I caught flu and sore throat that day..swt..
Tuesday 6.20am (seminar day 1), we have to wake up and start setup the laptops, printer and so on.. actually we planned before 8am should finish setup then go back change clothes.. however, there was something wrong with the laptop and there are more colleagues reached and they all have a question mark on their face when they see me..lol.. coz I’m still in T-shirt short pant and slipper looks! After that I have to rush back room and change clothes and start my duty which is change slides for each speaker and brief them how to use the pointer..
Wednesday (seminar day 2), do the same things again but have to wake up earlier because no more stay at hotel.. swt..by the way, I was get shock few times in that day, luckily, just some minor problems which affected a little to seminar and the seminar was ended successfully..
Overall, I was not really satisfied with my performance..I forgot to do something and I could do it better actually.. anyway, this is a great chance for me to learn how to organized an event and what things our IT need to take care..
P/S: i was the one who seat nearest to the speakers when they having speech but 50% of the time i dun really understand what are they talking about.. swt.. coz the accounting terms and taxtation law are out of my knowlegde range currently.. lol..
